Current Obsession: Bond No.9 "Chinatown"

30 Nov

Quick! Get a pen….if you are looking for a gift for the girl who has everything, or a perfume collector, look no further.

I have fallen in love with this scent. I tried it quite some time ago and never made the actual “investment”. Trust I have wasted years on not taking the plunge. For me, your perfume of choice should evoke some type of emotion. Nostalgia, happiness, etc, you know, those types of things. For me it definitely takes me to a happy place. The packaging is so pretty, something cute and unexpected where ever it may sit in your bedroom. I highly recommend you taking a trip to a Bond No.9 boutique if are in the NYC area, or do a search if you are in the U.K. I have gotten great service at the location at the 72nd and Madison Ave location. All of the perfumes are named after an area or borough of NYC.

The notes include :

Peach blossoms, gardenia, tuberose, patchouli, cardamomHave you ever tried any scents from Bond?

Acqua di Gioia by Armani

27 Oct

This happens to be my latest love and Armani’s latest addition to its family of fragrances, Giorgio Armani ‘Acqua di Gioia’ Eau de Parfum Spray By Giorgio Armani. The name sounds very much like the mainstay fragrance Acqua di Gio (which I’ve worn for years),but this one has the literal translation “water of joy”. I have found that even though it has a really fresh scent it is still fall appropriate. Although I don’t really choose scents based on seasons, for me it is more so my mood. It is available in an eau de parfum which knocks my socks off, because the scent is still there until I shower. The fragrance is also available in a lotion for all you that like to layer.

 From Armani:

” ‘Acqua,’ simply meaning ‘water’ in Italian, captures the inspiration of the legendary island of Pantelleria, where the sun and earth meet and create the perfect image of the Mediterranean landscape and the deep blue-green sea. ‘Gioia’ captures the essence of ‘joy’ and brings to mind happiness, serenity and a sense of optimism. Acqua di Gioia captures the essence of the fresh, aquatic territory and is a hymn to nature in all its forms.”

Notes:

Top notes: mojito-inspired sensual blend of crushed mint leaves warmed by brown sugar and mixed with the zest of Italian Limone.

Heart note: Feminine floral notes emerge with joyous hints of jasmine, dew of peony and traces of pink pepper.

Base note: The signature Mediterranean trail is rooted by the hearts of cedar wood and labdanum. “

Paco Rabanne.Lady Million.

10 Sep

Now what, you say? Welp, I have found a new scent, Paco Rabanne Lady Million. The fragrance, exclusive to Sephora, is the follow up,or alter ego of One Million Rabanne’s highly coveted mens’ fragrance. And the shape of the bottle? Like a doggone piece of art sitting on you armoire

Admittedly, I do own A LOT of perfume. My last acquisition was the Viktor & rolf flowerbomb eau de parfum spray . But this one, doesn’t remind me of anything I own.

Here is Sephora’s description of the scent;

Vibrant and sensual, Lady Million is like a voluptuous nectar of flowers. Powerfully seductive, the sparkle of bitter orange and a hint of raspberry reveals the fragrance’s first breath. Smooth and bright, a burst of neroli follows. Then the lethal weapon: heady orange blossom slips out of its sheath. Its narcotic sweetness then reveals itself, bewitching and demanding all attention. Joining with sambac jasmine and underlined by gardenia, the blend soars into something more carnalyet ever subtle. Now the obsessive pulsing of patchouli enters the fray, pacifying notes of honey with an addictive and supremely tempting sweetness. Amber endnotes become all enveloping, floating around like a ray of light on a diamond.

The notes:

Notes: Neroli, Bitter Orange, Raspberry, Orange Flower Absolute, Sambac Jasmine Absolute, Gardenia, Patchouli, Honey, Amber. Style: Seductive. Bright. Luxurious.

Now for pics of the purty bottle

Unsure if Lady Million is for you? Here are a couple other fragrances that you may have tried that share some of the same notes.

Last week I was going through one of the few stashes I have of perfum, skin care, etc and came upon this forgot about gem.Valentino Rock ‘n Rose Eau de Parfum, 3.0 oz., I couldn’t  remember what it smelled liked, so before leaving out for work I put some on. By the time I got in my car, I thought how could I just throw this in the archives. I love it! The notes includes; bergamot, crunch green, blackcurrant, muget, rose, orange blossom, gardenia, orris, vanilla, sandalwood, and heliotrope.

Here’s to finding what’s old, is new again!

From Bergdorfs:

The fragrance is inspired by a new generation of young Valentino women. She is a modern woman, who combines a Rock ‘n Roll attitude with elegance and style. She is a Rose on the outside and a Rocker on the inside.
