Anastasia Illumin8 eye shadow palette swatches+pics

5 Oct

Anastasia, brow guru to the stars has expanded her brow business to include make up. She actually did this earlier this year and I finally got my paws on Anastasia Illumin8 With Youthful Synergye; Complex Eye Shadow Palette .Anastasia is know for her brow kits, pencils and other ancillary products. As you know, brows are THE most important part of a woman’s face. They frame it for crying out loud! I think tht it’s only right that she branches into makeup, after all, she has the brow game on LOCK. But this aint just any old palette. She was able to incorporate skin care into the make up.Take a look.

Anastasia Illumin8 With Youthful Synergye; Complex Eye Shadow Palette What it is: A palette featuring clinically and consumer tested eye shadows that are formulated to act like skincare. What it does: These clinically and consumer tested eye shadows provide a sheer wash of gorgeous, natural color. The long-wearing formula is free of fragrances and artificial dyes and contains both the Youthful Synergy™ Complex and a Balkan Botanical® Infusion. The Youthful Synergy™ Complexhas Brown Algae, Diamond Core Powder, and powerful antioxidants that lift, hydrate and revitalize the appearance of skin. The Balkan Botanical® Infusion soothes, softens, and hydrates the skin.

The colors are very wearable. Even though I never use the brushes that are included palettes, I tried it, and the quality, was actually decent. I rocked it one day with the more neutral colors, and then today with the more purplish colors. Love it!!! Here are swatches. Have you all experienced Anastasia products or visited or brow studio?

Wet n’ Wild product pics +swatches

2 Oct

Ok so the trusty Fuji is all powered up…as promised here are pics and swatches…Don’t forget to hit up Walgreens by Saturday night, to take advantage of the 50% off. Everything pictured was $2.50 and under.

Swatches…… I found the eye shadows to have an amazing texture! They claim to be creaseless, but I always wear a primer so I can’t be the judge of that once I do some looks with these.

This one is “Pride” I cant wait to rock these blues with heavy black liner and a pinky/nude lip! yessssss

“Lust”- these are great for everyday

I also grabbed a single shadow and a green blending pencil

The texture of the pencil is so creammyyyy, and I think it will be a great base, and totally doable for use in the waterline for a pop of color. The blue is called “Lagoon”. Amazeballs.

I can see this blush as one you can throw on without any fuss, “heather silk”.

Make sure you get to Walgreens by Saturday night to take advantage of the sale! Let me know what you get.

Wet n Wild Haulage. Get thee to Walgreens.

2 Oct

So after being in all day, I stepped out to venture to walgreens. There I found that Wet n’ Wild was 50% off. Being that I have not witnessed a product over $5 at full price, that’s a STEAL. Here are a few shots of my loot. The photo quality isn’t so hot, I took with my Samsung Vibrant (I am admittedly addicted to gadgets). As soon as my digi cam is all charged up I will swatch for you all. RUN, this 50% off ends tomorrow (Saturday) night. I got all of this for $12.

Here are some things I wanted but they were out of, may try and hit another walgreens before the sale ends.

Also I did a post with wet n wild lipstick swatches, and a look here were I used the cream liner. The lipsticks are great, I would stay grab them in every color!

A Heartless Face of the Day.

29 Sep

I was able to snap a couple pics of  me wearing my new lipstick,”Heartless” that I scored at the unveiling last week. I swatched everything I bought, but this photo may help in your buying decisions.I highly recommend a lip primer underneath to keep it from moving around. It’s a great “neutral” red. Like to hear it, here it go………

Yeah, so pretty much the Naked palette is my homeboy.I reach for it everyday.I know, you’ve heard that before but its the gospel kids. I pretty much love this lipstick, even though I have 67548 other red lipsticks. Cop it.

Other things I used on my mug:

Disney Venomous Villains for MAC unveiling. Swatches+pics

22 Sep

I am not sure how I am even up at such an ungodly hour, but I am going to share with you all what I got from the collection, and a few other pictures. I went to the MAC store here in Connecticut. It was extremely crowded, yet fairly organized and all the MAC employees were very nice- and I know their damn feet were hurting. I was able to play around with product as much as one could in a tiny shoe box type of space completely filled with make up junkies alike.

Lets get right into this! I snagged a few products after I must’ve looked at  Temptalia’s video like 87542780 times. I am trying to not buy things that already look like something I own.

The packaging is dope and none of the actually product has stickers. MAC knows we aint going for the okie doke, especially since they just had a price increase. AS IF!

I got 3 lipsticks  Dark Deed (Amplified), Heartless (Amplified) and Toxic Tale (Satin). Beauty Powder in “Briar Rose” a blush “Bite of an Apple” and the Magically Cool powder in “Cajun”. I am happy with my purchases, and glad that I had the opportunity to see it before online. Without sites such as Temptalia, you could easily walk into these nutty events, cash out and have to eat beanies and weenies for a month. Fo more information please visit her site, and watch the video if you have not. She explains EVERY single product far better than me and my long winded self. Also I though it might help to swatch it on a woman of color, so that you can have an idea of how it may work for you, if you are a WOC. I don’t have a problem with people using my pcitures, please just link and credit me, k?

Here we go kids.

“Heartless” it is amplified, so the color payoff is sweet! And you can never have enough red lipsticks.

Toxic Tale- its a satin, which I never buy, but I thought the color was pretty .

Dark Deed- also an amplified. Mannnnnn Me thinks this will be worn all up and through this Northeast winter.

Now for the blushes…..

“Bite of an apple”

I swatched it, then sheered it out so you guys could see how you can control the intensity- or not.

Beauty Powder in “Briar Rose”

This one I plan on using as a highlight. I will play around with it on top of some cream blushes and see what happens!

Finally, I got the Magically cool liquid powder in “Cajun”….OMG when you apply it feels wet, but the texture is a loose powder They applied all my face, and it gave me a nice glow. My friend who is a darker skin tone, had them try it on her, they used it as a highlighter and it was purty!

It appears lighter in this swatch than it really is.

So did any of you guys go to an unveiling? Do you plan on purchasing anything? I wonder who MAC will collab with next…….

Wait… I almost forgot! They had a set up, and you could dress like one of the villains….check me out!

I didn’t take off my nude lip……..sue

Complexion Chronicles: Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Review+pics

20 Sep

Of course I have tried it. I’m a foundation groupie. So let me get right to it. I bring to you Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Makeup .

I have actually used this off and on for almost a year now.I decided to pull it out, now that the weather is cooling down (boo hiss!).

                1 fl.oz. of product…..great for recessionistas.

What Maybelline says:

“Liquid-mousse texture Air-whipped formula provides skin perfecting coverage. Smooth, 100% poreless finish with natural luminosity Air-brushed natural perfection Blends effortlessly for a flawless, air-brushed finish. Oil-free, Fragrance-free, Dermatologist Tested, Allergy Tested, Non-comedogenic – won’t clog pores. Safe for sensitive skin, good for all skin types.”

My thoughts? It provides medium to full coverage. I am not sure how it holds up without a primer, as I wear some type of primer or anti-shine product no matter what. It holds up through out the day without streaking. On hot/humid days this would not be my foundation of choice. It did get rather greasy on hot days- take into consideration I am the oiliest person in the western part of the globe.I never need a concealer to cover additionally when I wear it. I ALWAYS buy drug store cosmetics during promotions, so I’m sure it was bogo or something.

The verdict? It could perhaps be viable if you keep an arsenal of foundations in your stash. If you are really oily, make sure you wear a primer. I definitely recommend setting with a powder.

Pics displaying the texture.Of course my hand is a lot darker than my face.

This is shade Dark 2. I also have Dark 1, and sometimes mix them during the seasons.

Here is me before foundation. Don’t laugh, I clip my hair back to get it of out the way.

This is me fully covered in foundation. Work with me folks. I’m still trying to learn the settings on my cam, so the lighting is tres weird.I should read the manual,no? You can see how well it covers though.

Here is what I used on the rest of my face

Edited to add: There may be some that think this isn’t my shade……..blame it on flash photography. No way I’d walk around with foundation that doesn’t match. 🙂

Feel Good.Look Good.Smell Good.

13 Sep

Although Fashion week is still going on through the middle of the week, I had my last hoorah last night. By the time you read this I will probably be snoring on my serta. Sunday evening I schlepped into Manhattan down to the Honey Lounge for an awesome event. Kim Riley, owner of FSL cosmetics hosted a soiree of sorts, where everyone was formally introduce to her amazing line of cosmetics.Kim,the creator, and chemist by trade, has developed lipsticks and glosses are natural, and OMG smell like you could eat them. She had a beauty bar where Danielle and a few other artists applied color to those wanting to test them out. Of course, me, being the product junkie that I am, I swatched and felt all the lipsticks and a few of the glosses. The color payoff and texture was really nice.

The glosses included organic jojoba oil, meadowfoam seed oil, cupacu butter, avocado oil, acia extract, and plenty of antioxidants.I was wearing neutral color and Danielle changed it to “seduction” one of the glosses. Never did it feel sticky or drying.

Kim was the hostess with the mostess. She acknowledged attendees and was happly to show and play with the product. Honestly, I think that is missing from many businesses these days. Creators and founders rarely greet the very people who keep them in business- I’ll save that topic for a rainy day. They had cupcakes that I couldn’t stop eating and great music. Here are more pictures below.

I managed to also snap some shots of some really fly people                  I forget the name of the young lady on the left (link yourself in the comments if you’re reading!) Right :Dionne Adessa

loved the strong shoulder on this dress

Danielle (cute leather shorts,no?) and another young lady working the beauty bar

                              Kim and I

I snagged one lipstick. The color is “vino”

MAC Stereo rose Dupe.Or Maybe not.

22 Jul

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the world of cosmetics,it is impossible to not know about the anarchy MAC’s stereo rose created. It released ,I want to say ,back in 2005 (don’t quote me) and released a couple weeks ago for MAC’s In the Groove Collection. Well it was pretty mcuh sold out before it even hit the counters. Meaning people like myself had it held, and on the release date went and paid for it. Quick on the draw. Welp. That left many out of luck.

So here is when I step in and attempt to find a duplicate. In fact I immediately upon swatching the stereo rose thought….”I know what is exactly the same color”! I went home and rummaged through my make up to find a blush by Laura Geller. Put them next to each other and did a little jig, excited to tell the world what they could pic  it up as an alternative. Let me cut to the chase.

I put Laura Geller Blush And Brighten Golden Apricot next to the stereo rose and they looked nearly identical. When I swatched them, not so much. Long story short, the Geller blush and brighten is an amazing product to have in your arsenal, it isn’t as soft as the stereo rose, which can be used in the cheek area, or all over. Alas, I am back on the search for the perfect stereo rose Have any of you ladies found one?

The upset. 😦

Back on the hunt I go.

Sucker for packaging.My thoughts +Pic

20 Jul

Anticipating MAC’s Disney Villain collection got me to thinking. I was thinking about how cosmetic companies are geniuses when it comes to coming up with these collections. I mean how good can it get? Come out with limited edition collections, that sell out and create frenzies amongst us beauty lovers. Hell, they even repromote colors, or even repackage them and slap em in these new fun packages and sell them, many people don’t even realize some have been available all along.

Trust I’m not judging. In fact I’d like to share some things I have purchased, partly because of the packaging. I confess, I am a collector of sorts, and some of these items haven’t even been used. Most I actually do or have used, they have a function!Tears. What a shame. So yes, I will probably buy most everything from the Disney for MAC. What items have you purchased because of the packaging? lol

*All items are included are not MAC, but most are*

Kevyn Aucoin- On Hautelook. TODAY!

18 Jul

I will have to insist that your make up collection isn’t complete without at least one product from Kevyn. I haven’t had the luxury (read:checking account funds) to indulge in all of his products. However my most coveted item is the Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer Foundation, SX 06., I’m shade 13. The $45 prIce tage is worth it. Because you literally only need a TINY bit for your whole face, the cost per use could be measured in cents.I also highly recommend the nude lip pencils. Of course I do not know exactly what will be included in the sale, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of his products.

Click here to sign up for Hautelook.Sale starts at 11am, EST.

This blemish-defying formula doubles as a foundation, but it truly excels as concealer. Dab sparingly on freshly moisturized skin under eyes, around your nose, and in any other trouble areas.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed their holiday… I will be posting pics and discussing some products I acquired this weekend while in Maryland. Happy Monday, I’m still on vacay 🙂

ETA:I only ordered an eyeshadow palette…it was originally $55 and was $22. They have beautiful lipsticks, but I need to knock it off.
